Barrow, Alaska – Jeevan Pokharel has been hired as the Chief Financial Officer (CFO) for Ukpeaġvik Iñupiat Corporation (UIC). Jeevan brings over ten years of successful financial leadership. Jeevan is well versed in construction, oil field services, heavy-haul trucking, marine transportation, and the government contracting and service industry.
Mr. Pokharel has a Master of Accountancy and a Bachelor of Science in Business and Finance, both from the University of Idaho. He is a Certified Public Accountant and a Certified Merger & Acquisitions Advisor.
Jeevan will be in the UIC Anchorage office, where he will work closely with the Executive Management. His duties include reporting directly to the Board of Directors and President/CEO of UIC. Jeevan is replacing former UIC CFO, Walt George that has been with the company for more than 12 years. UIC would also like to take this opportunity to thank Mr. George, for the work he did to help UIC make steady progress on its banking relationships and financial commitments under his leadership.
Jeevan is a member of the International Rotary Club and participates in their community service and fundraising activities that benefit local, state, national and world-wide causes. In his spare time, he loves to hike, travel, and fish
New General Counsel
Barrow, Alaska – Ukpeaġvik Iñupiat Corporation (UIC) is pleased to introduce, Mr. Rick L. Owen as the new Corporate General Counsel.
Rick received his Bachelor of Science in Business Finance from Brigham Young University, his Doctor of Jurisprudence degree from Pepperdine University School of Law (Cum Laude), and is licensed to practice law in California, Alaska, and in the Alaska Federal District Court.
Rick’s work history includes positons as General Counsel and Concerns Resolution Director for ASRC Energy Services; Manager of Commercial Special Credits for National Bank of Alaska (now Wells Fargo), and Private Practice Attorney at Groh, Eggers & Price.
Rick is a longtime Alaskan and grew up in Anchorage. He has six children, loves the great Alaskan outdoors, and is actively involved with his church and church youth programs.
New Senior Vice President of Commercial Operations
Barrow, Alaska – Ukpeaġvik Iñupiat Corporation (UIC) announces the promotion of Clayton Arterburn to Senior Vice President of UIC Commercial Operations. For nearly four years, Clayton led UIC Construction Services, LLC (UICC) as its General Manager. Clayton is replacing Interim Senior Vice President, Larry Houle who will resume his duties as a Business Development Director for UIC Commercial Operations.
Clayton was born in Indianapolis, Indiana and moved to Alaska in 1975 and was raised in Willow, his current home. After graduating from Central Washington University in 1997 with a Bachelor of Science in Construction Management, Clayton worked and managed a wide range of construction projects all over the State of Alaska and Washington State. He has worked in the construction field in a wide variety of capacities, from being a Laborer, Carpenter, and Equipment operator. Clayton has been with UIC Construction since 2006.
Clayton involves himself in community support projects such as providing and maintaining the ice at the Willow Elementary School for the children and community’s use through a 501(c)(3) company he and a friend started four years ago called – Willow Ice. He and his friend also started a skating and hockey program in association with the local PTA, where he participates as an Assistant Coach. Their plan for next year is to start a full-fledged hockey association along with matching competitive teams.
Clayton enjoys time with his family of five, snowmobiling, off-roading, and hunting.
