UIC Technical Services (UICTS) Produces the 5th Annual Government Forum of Incident Response and Security Teams (GFIRST) National Conference for a Third Consecutive Year

Alexandria, Virginia - August 25, 2009 - Bowhead Science and Technology's (BST) Events and Marketing Division is once again producing the annual GFIRST National Conference. Hosted by the United States Computer Emergency Readiness Team (US-CERT) of the U.S. Department of Homeland Security (DHS), the six-day conference will be held August 23 - 28, 2009 at the Omni at CNN Center in Atlanta, Georgia.
Based on the conference's theme: GFIRST5: The 5 Pillars of Cyber Security: Threat - Vulnerability - Attack & Detection - Mitigation - Reflection, GFIRST speakers will be presenting topics throughout the conference based on these foundations, which support cyber security and the incident response community. The five pillars provide a framework that must be covered to secure information systems. Speakers will cover the latest in cyber security trends and technology and include insight from industry and government leaders. The GFIRST Conference is open to all interested in learning more about cyber security and incident response, as well as, brings together experts and practitioners from the public, private, and academic sectors in a dynamic setting. The 5th Annual GFIRST National Conference is expected to attract more than 1000 attendees and includes a Vendor Expo. Additional information may be obtained by visiting www.us-cert.gov/GFIRST.

Established in 2003, US-CERT is a partnership between the Department of Homeland Security and the public and private sectors. US-CERT's mission is to protect the nation's Internet infrastructure by coordinating, defense against and responses to, cyber attacks across the nation. US-CERT is responsible for analyzing and reducing cyber threats and vulnerabilities, disseminating cyber threat warning information and coordinating incident response activities. US-CERT also provides a way for citizens, businesses, and other institutions to communicate and coordinate activities.
