Bowhead is committed to its employees and their well-being. To ensure Bowhead employees are functioning at their highest potential, a comprehensive and competitive benefits package is offered to full-time employees and their dependents.

Eligibility:

To be eligible to participate in the complete benefits package, employees must work at least 32 hours per week. Benefits take effect on the first day of the month following the date of hire, or on the date of hire if coinciding with the first of the month. Part-time employees (working less than 32 hours per week) are eligible to participate in the 401(k) program and Employee Assistance Program.

  • Paid Personal Leave - Accrued over each bimonthly pay period
  • Paid Holidays - There are 11 paid holidays, including Alaska Day (the day after Thanksgiving)
  • Medical Coverage - Provided through Blue Cross and Blue Shield, which includes vision and prescription coverage at no additional cost. Coverage is provided through a cost-sharing basis with Bowhead absorbing the majority of the cost.
  • Dental Coverage - Provided through Delta Dental on a cost-sharing basis with Bowhead absorbing the majority of the cost.
  • Insurance Premiums Plan - Salary is reduced by amount of premium contribution required resulting in a lower taxable income and less tax burden

    • Term Life Insurance - 2x your salary up to a maximum of $200,000
    • Accidental Death/Dismemberment Insurance - 2x your salary up to a maximum of $200,000
    • Short Term Disability - 60 percent of your weekly earnings up to $1,500 per week
    • Long Term Disability - 60 percent of your monthly earnings up to $7,500 per month
    • Employee Assistance Program - 100 percent employer-paid coverage provided through Magellan, giving all employees confidential in-person or telephone counseling and crisis services 24 hours a day, 7 days a week

  • Additional Term Life Insurance - Coverage available for the employee, spouse, and dependents at the employee's expense
  • 401(k) Retirement Savings - Administered through Wells Fargo; eligible employees are 100 percent vested; employer match up to three percent.
  • Health & Dependent Care Flexible Spending Accounts - Offers a way to reduce taxes by using pre-tax earnings to pay for eligible health and dependent care expenses
  • Parking and Transportation Reimbursement Accounts - "Set-aside" pre-tax earnings to pay for eligible parking and/or transportation expenses
  • Aflac - Personal Accident Protection, Personal Cancer Indemnity Plan, and Hospital Intensive Care protection - at the employee's expense on a pre-tax basis
